O'  CANADA
My adopted country. I love the people, environment, and the weather. It's amazing to know that people walk around the city without fear, night or day. It is very clean and the air is so refreshing.  Trully, the officers "SERVE AND PROTECT".

My brother stays in Canada. He is a proud Canadian. He loves all the big cities can offer. Just like me, he loves snow. He does not want to miss winter in Canada, that's why we traveled every christmas from Texas to Toronto. He loves everything Canadian, specially his school -- University of Toronto.
My brother and I in Las Vegas. Mom and dad were busy then at the casino. My kuya visit us often in the US. He will be finishing his medical studies in Toronto. His specialty? ...........Neurosurgery.

I missed too the following activities in Toronto--Molson Indy (car racing), Caribana (Latin American Festival), Air Show, Film Festival, CNE,Ontario Place, and many others more. But most of all, I missed my friends.

Disneyland .... but I still prefer to see "Nayong Pilipino".
"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the neighbor.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space; we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We have higher incomes, but lower morals; we've become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are the times of tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are the days of two incomes, and more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes."
It is a time when there is too much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to make a difference, or just hit delete.

A Short Story

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that the
accident of evolution had created. "What beautiful animals!" he said
to himself.

As he walked alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes
behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear barging
toward him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over
his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in. He ran even
faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over
his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was
pumping frantically and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and
fell on the ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up but saw the bear right on top of
him reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to
strike him. At that instant the atheist cried out without
thinking,"Oh my God!..."

Time stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
Even the river stopped moving.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky,
"You deny my existence for all of these years; teach others I don't
exist; and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect
me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a
believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light and answered, "It would be
hypocritical for me to be a Christian after all these years, but
perhaps you could make the bear a Christian?" Very well," said the
voice.

The light went out.
The river ran again.
The sounds of the forest resumed.

And then the bear dropped his right paw.....brought both paws
together...bowed his head and spoke "Lord, for this food which I am
about to receive, I am truly thankful."
